Arts Team

Meet our Arts and PE team!

All students take Arts and PE classes as a regular part of their education at Morehead Elementary. From Kindergarten through Fifth grade students see all Arts and PE teachers on a 6 day rotation. Third, Fourth, and Fifth grade students can also choose to take additional classes as part of the free Arts Academy after school program.

Arts and PE Team

Ms. Haulenbeek loves her family and all things water-related, especially the beach. She can be found reading, watching movies, and traveling. Ms. Haulenbeek has been on 6 cruises and can’t wait to go on more! She is a proud alumni of both Greensboro College and UNCG, and she is excited to begin her 24th year of teaching at Morehead.

Miss Cox loves teaching art and inspiring young artists to express themselves through the visual arts. Working at Morehead is her dream job and she is looking forward to starting her 28th year of teaching here. Miss Cox is from a small town outside of Buffalo NY (Go Bills!). She did her Art Education studies at Edinboro University in Pennsylvania. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, painting, helping those in need, and traveling.

This is Mrs. Furness's 22nd year teaching music. She went to UNCG for both undergrad and grad school for Music Education. When she's not teaching she is hanging out with her husband and going to concerts. She loves to walk her dog Alexander Wenderski, paint by numbers, exercise, and garden. She is looking forward to sharing music with all the kiddos!

Miss Toney is originally from Maryland where she was first introduced to and fell in love with the viola. She has been playing for 43 years. She completed both her undergraduate and graduate studies in Music Education at UNCG. Miss Toney loves traveling, teaching aerobics, and spending time with family and friends. Her favorite movie is Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, and her favorite artist is Prince. Miss Toney is looking forward to beginning her 30th(!) year of teaching here at Morehead.

Mr. Kight has a love for his family & friends, the Carolina Panthers, and for staying active. You might find him in a pair of Pumas playing Basketball, Soccer, Tennis, watching a Panthers game, or teaching in the Morehead Gym. He also might be considered the Panthers good luck charm because he has been to 18 Panthers' games, and they have only lost 1 that he has been to. Mr. Kight completed his studies at UNCG. He loves Morehead and is excited to start his 5th year of teaching!

Mrs. Braswell loves to spend all day at the beach! She can be found lifting weights, walking, doing logic puzzles, and going to concerts. She has a playlist for every event. She loves to spend time eating pizza and ice cream with her family, and buying shoes. Mrs. Braswell is a proud graduate of the UNCG Department of Dance and she is excited to start her 17th year doing what she loves: teaching students how to create using movement.
